MUSIC PROGRAM
The Risa Beth Music style is influenced by folk singers such as the Mamas and The Papas, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, and other music from the 40's to 70's. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Patti Page, Nat King Cole, Barbara Streisand, and eclectic mixtures of others are also inherent in our musical repertoire. We like to take people on a musical journey down memory lane. The familiar songs encourage them to sing along with us and move to the music. The uplifting and inspiring messages in our songs "strike a chord" with our audiences. People leave our performances feeling more positive and motivated. As our clients have stated, our music has a resounding effect long after the show has ended.
ABOUT RISA BETH
As an elementary school teacher for over twenty years, I have helped children master the content areas in the states of New York and Texas. I have composed many original songs with repetitive melodies to reinforce content and concepts. Now living in Delray Beach, Florida, I have founded Risa Beth Music to bring to local senior and youth organizations my years of classroom experience and working with seniors as a music consultant. I have created universal sing-a-long activities, rhythm band activities, word substitution activities in familiar songs, musical introductions to different genres, guided poetry/songwriting activities, guided imagery/relaxation sessions, and activities to develop awareness of music in the media and in our environment. I look forward to serving my new neighbors by offering them new opportunities for creative musical expression.
ABOUT DEE
Hailing from Alabama and a prior school teacher like Risa Beth, my teaching motivation stemmed largely from my grandmother. My brother was my musical inspiration at an early age. He taught me the trumpet and encouraged me to join a band in middle school. My music interests continued in the high school band and high school choir. I have written songs, and I dabble in playing rhythm instruments.
I left home after high school to join the military and travel. My education has been a composite of the Army’s system, colleges and universities in areas where I was stationed, as well as work experience. My first area of job history was in the field of business, which was my area of early studies. I have had careers in the legal field as a personnel director and recruiting coordinator, and in the teaching profession as a special educator in the elementary and middle school grades. I have also taught ESL to adults.
I have lived in Japan, California, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, and now Florida. I received a BA Degree in Human Resources Administration from Saint Leo University and a MA in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio
